Hello Alexandra,

Do you know of any books that describe house building and houses around the world for 3rd graders?

Yes, there are some good ones! Let me build a link post for you. I'll try to get it done soon.

Dear Alexandra, thank you so much for your efforts! This will be very helpful for me. I do have one old library book about this topic, but I wanted something else. I looked myself online, but coudn't find anyhing that I liked. You should become a librarian! Thanks again and have a great Sunday.

You are very welcome. If you want to search some more, try looking in my Google Books Favorites(sidebar) using "home geography" as a search word. I think I tried "many lands" and "homes". I should have also tried specific countries as well.

The archaic terms and attitudes toward under developed countries in these books made me laugh in places, but it's still useful information with the addition of research for updates on Google. Some places have changed very little! Their cultural pride and identity is vested in their centuries old cultural traditions and history, so these "old-fashioned" books really get at this. I enjoy them as a window in time.

I tried searching there, but got very confused by the search results, especially the format. There were lots of ads in between. Maybe I also didn't use the right search words. I looked for "homes" and "housebuilding," I think.

Try this one: http://goo.gl/m1uNW . It's a link to my Google Library favorites. This link on my sidebar is farther down than the search engine for this blog, which is what you used.

Here is a more direct link:

I just got rid of that search engine for my blog. It's not so helpful with all those ads. I had added it when Blogger's search was not working, but I think it's working now.

Anyway, this link goes to Google Books, not my blog here. This is where I find all my books. It's on my sidebar if you need it in the future, but I don't mind looking up books for you at all. Please feel free to ask me again if you'd like me to share resources.

Thanks for the updated search function. I come back to your blog again and again and find great things.
