Rosetta Project groups vintage illustrated children's books by reading level, easy to read format, and has an audio reader. Not in public domain per their format. Read only, books downloadable for small fee.
International Children's Library illustrated contemporary children's books for reading online only. Audio reader available. Not in public domain.
Christian Ethereal Classics Library downloadable Christian books, readable online in HTML(like a regular web page).

How do these books compare to the "Twin Series," I wonder? Do you know?

It took me a while to remember, but I'm pretty sure the "Cousins Series" is not graded and is geared toward early elementary. The "Twin Series" is graded. I found the graded list, if you are interested.
Hello, Alexandra, actually, I thougt the twin series was graded too. I got an old copy of one of the twin books from our college library and I'm pretty sure they had a list about the grades and the corresponding book in the back. The library is closed right now, but I could check the book next week. I would be very interested in the list for the cousin series! Thanks for checking.

I couldn't find any grading for the "Cousins", but if you find one, please share. :) I'll list it here for others. I did find more "Cousins" books when I searched Google Books. I think I'll start a post with links to them all. It will take a while. I think there are over 80! I plan to get a Kindle soon, and it would be so nice to have a library of these for my daughter.
Maybe our library also has the "cousin" books. I'll check this week.
